Dear CPU, grant me the might
To vectorize what's slow at night,
To cache the truth and load with care,
And prefetch where the stalls lay bare.

Let branches be as straight as code,
Let structs align and not explode.
Give me the strength to mem-map files,
And joy in bitwise logic's wiles.

Forgive my loops that run too long,
My copy-pastes that led me wrong.
Deliver me from page faults deep,
And race conditions in my sleep.

Protect me from the devil's math:
The floats that wander off the path.
Let NaNs be few and always trapped,
Let rounding modes be rightly mapped.

Keep compilers just and true,
No silent ops out of the blue.
Let -O3 do as I meant,
Not break the thing I never spent.

Grant me wisdom in my grep,
And sed that doesn't cause regret.
In pipes and forks, may I find peace–
My scripts concise, their output fleece.

Let elegance and speed entwine,
In every function, loop, and line.
And when the segfault comes at last,
Print me a trace before I'm passed.

Amen.
